The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows

Used. Paperback. If you ever wondered how a Charles Lamb paperback could bridge post-war London and a clandestine Channel Island book club, Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows have a remarkably charming epistolary dispatch for you. This epistolary charmer follows a seeking writer drawn into the orbit of eccentric islanders whose inventive reading group began as a curfew-defying alibi during German occupation. It is a witty, warm-hearted celebration of the written word proving that literature can rescue us, even when served alongside questionable potato peel pie. Take a trip to Guernsey and discover how postal correspondence can utterly overturn a quiet life.
