Julia Trentini Clementine Dirndl, Orange — 85cm

The Clementine is the romantic one, and it works by being light rather than loud. The neckline is left classic and untrimmed on purpose — because the buttons are the centrepiece here, and they're elaborately made and genuinely sparkle.

A floral runs through the skirt, and the apron is kept deliberately simple so nothing competes with it. It closes with a button placket. At 85 cm this is the longest cut Julia Trentini makes. Good with a lace blouse and a romantic cardigan.

THE TRENTINI BUILD

Stabilising boning at the centre front holds the shape. Generous seam allowances at the sides, centre and waist mean it can be altered and re-altered — built to last years, not a season. Double-stitched seams, ruffles worked by hand.

Fit note: a dirndl should sit skin-tight. Blouse and accessories not included.
